THINKING BETTER TODAY THAN YESTERDAY
Thinking is a skill. Some people seem to come out of the womb thinking better than others. The emphasis is on "seem." Many thinking skills can be enhanced through training. We know this because all those liberal arts studies research, develop and implement techniques for better thinking. Psychology isn't just for the emotionally disturbed or grief-stricken. There is a whole sub field devoted to how learning occurs, another to how things are stored in memory and retrieved from memory. One to study how persuasion works (should be a hit with sales personnel, advertising & marketing professionals, political analysts, people looking for a job, running a charitable event, and so on). Some people get some of these skills from their parents or teachers or mentors. Others obtain them through self help books.
As for myself, I am always thinking. Sometimes I think out loud, which can annoy others. I have apent a lifetime learning how to think: that does not mean WHAT to think, but how to go about thinking about ideas, projects, learning, teaching, persuading, communicating and the like. Whether I employ all I know effectively is a separate issue!
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT THINKING BETTER?
1. It could improve your work life (getting hired, promoted, getting raises, making sales, just doing your job faster with less effort)
2. It improves your skills as a parent.
3. It can improve your participation in society as a citizen, volunteer, voter, neighbor.
4. It can reduce emotional and psychological stress through resolving problems more easily and effectively.
5. It can make life's activities more enjoyable.
6. It can give you better insight into yourself and your goals, leading to more satisfaction with yourself and your life.
Pick one. Or Two. Or all of the above.
First, let's look at the brain. Here are some resources for understanding how the brain operates

This page is a compendium of resources and links. I recommend that if you like it and find it valuable, you might also consider looking under the MORE tab above for Children: Our Nation's Future as I have placed some resources I believe especially good for training young minds there.

WebsitesChanging Minds.org Dave Straker's excellent site covering a wide variety of these topics, from persuasion to body language. He has a book of the same title for sale. I have not read it, but combined with my many years of studies and his "Look inside" feature, I have no hesitation in recommending its value.
