Health: You never know what you've got til it's gone
I offer this page in the hopes that it will bring someone improvements in their health. I also offer some tips for saving money on medical expenses for those who are uninsured
DIET
No, I'm not talking about "dieting." I'm talking about changes to your every day diet to provide better nutrition, alleviate symptoms, maintain weight, or even lose weight if adopted on a regular basis. You may also wish to consult my Vitamins, Minerals, Calories OH MY page under Recipes I Like a Lot..
EXERCISE
This is of particular interest to me because SLE eliminates all high-impact exercise. For some of us, exposure to sunlight is also a problem. I don't have access to a pool, and I can't afford a gym. Therefore, I have had to develop my own exercise program on a budget. Some of it is non-conventional, even odd. It works for me!

SYMPTOMS
Migraines? This can be a symptom of celiac disease. Switching to a gluten free diet may ameliorate or even terminate migraines. Can't hurt to try it. Eliminate wheat, barley and rye.

STRESS
Getting tense? Walk away from what's causing the stress for 10 minutes. Walk around the office or house or around the block, Meditate. Do Yoga. Breathe deeply for a couple of minutes. Pet an animal. Turn on the music and dance (I often do this in my chair. It looks weird but I can move my arms above shoulder level (cardio), do butt clenches and hip lifts, move my feet, for muscle tone and flexibility. S-T-R-E-T-C-H. Vent. Laugh. Burn a lavender or lemon candle; if you can't keep something scented with these and sniff its aroma, say a scented soap or candle, or a bottle of essential oils, which you could dab inside your wrists. Tense up each muscle in your body as much as you can, then release. This takes out knots. End each day by thinking of three good things about the day as you lay down to sleep. Take a bubble bath.
